Growing up as the child of pastors, I learned early on the value of helping others. My journey into nonprofit work began during college, where I interned with organizations revitalizing old homes for first-time buyers. This experience led me to a career promoting homeownership through special financing programs. Despite starting with little knowledge of real estate, I eagerly shared these opportunities with everyone I knew, eventually becoming one of the first Black real estate brokers in the Twin Cities. I founded my own successful company, focusing initially on helping nonprofits and government entities assist first-time homebuyers.
However, driven by financial success, I shifted into real estate investment, focusing solely on profit. When the market crashed, I lost everything—my business, properties, and savings. This period of loss, compounded by the death of my father, a dedicated community servant, left me feeling disconnected from my purpose and faith. With the support of my family, I rediscovered my calling: to use my skills and experience to help others, particularly nonprofits, regain their footing and thrive
